Four checks that save everyone time
Listen to recent releases
Check the latest twelve months, not only the label’s historic classics. Identify tempo, mood, mix density and how experimental the current output is.
Send release-ready music
A demo can be unmastered, but it should be mixed, arranged and presented well enough for the label to understand the finished record.
Use the stated channel
If a label requests LabelRadar, a contact form or a private SoundCloud link, follow that instruction. Unrequested attachments create friction.
Keep the introduction short
State who you are, why the track fits and provide one working private link. Credits, contact details and download access should be clear.

Send less. Send better.
Choose the correct master
Use a properly exported WAV or the format requested by the label. Check the start, end, metadata and playback before sharing it.
Make the private link work
Enable streaming and downloads if requested. Test the link in a private browser window so the A&R team does not meet a permissions screen.
Explain the fit in one sentence
Mention a relevant current release or aspect of the catalogue. Avoid empty praise, invented support and a biography longer than the message.
Keep your rights clear
Resolve collaborators, vocal permissions and uncleared samples before creating the impression that the track is ready to license.
Track the submission
Record the label, track version, route and date. Do not send conflicting exclusivity promises to several labels at once.
Follow up with restraint
Respect any stated response window. One concise follow-up may be reasonable; repeated messages across multiple accounts are not.

Before you press send
Should I send the same demo to several labels?
Unless a label requests exclusivity, producers often approach more than one suitable label. Be organised and honest. Do not accept conflicting offers, and tell other interested parties promptly when a track is no longer available.
Should a drum and bass demo be mastered?
Follow the label’s requirements. A clean premaster can be sufficient, but it must already communicate the intended balance, impact and arrangement. Mastering will not rescue an unfinished mix.
How many tracks should I send?
Use the number requested by the label. Where no number is stated, one to three related tracks is usually easier to assess than a large folder. RAM’s current page specifically asks for one or two.
What should the demo message contain?
Include your artist name, location if relevant, a one-sentence introduction, why the track fits, one working private link and a reliable contact method. Add songwriter or vocalist credits where they matter.
How long should I wait for a reply?
There is no universal response time, and many labels cannot answer every submission. Follow any stated guidance. Continue making music rather than pausing your entire release plan around one inbox.
Can I submit a track containing samples?
You should be able to explain and license every element required for release. Uncleared copyrighted samples can prevent a label from safely signing the track. Read our guide to using samples legally before submitting.
